FAQs

  • In the more practical terms, the ‘creative industries is a consolidated term for these enterprises whose aim is to create and exploit ‘symbolic cultural products (such as the arts, films and interactive games), or on providing business-to-business symbolic or information services’.

  • In a more practical sense, these enterprises mostly fall under the manufacturing and service industries. It is important to note that the labelling does not imply that the enterprises that fit into the 'non-creative industry-based' category can't be creative in their solutions or processes; nor does it 'argue that creativity is somehow exclusive to the creative industries; only that their business model is more completely built upon acts of origination that have expressive value than any other sector of the economy'. (Hutton, 2007)

  • When it comes to the framework side of the design thinking practice, it's a user-centred approach that starts with user data, then builds design solutions through prototyping that address real, not hypothetical, user needs, and then tests those tangible outcomes with real users.

Through the focus on interdisciplinary creation and putting users first at each part of the development process or organizational process, design thinking ultimately makes consumer loyalty and retention more effective. (Stevens, 2021) In the long run, design thinking practice ensures a user-centric strategy, which increases user engagement and customer retention.

Taking aside the improvements in the problem-solving processes and improved customer experience, it can tackle the budgeting and increase the ROI of the product or service.

  • Considering design thinking approaches have already been identified as an enabler of innovation in the European market (Lawlor et al. 2015), the analysis of accessibility and systematisation is recognized as not only appropriate but also essential for SME development.
